Description (last modified by VincentMcIntyre)

CARMA miriad has a csh script to allow display of miriad data in the DS9 image viewer. The reason for this is to allow display of images on a 24-bit X screen; xmtv cannot use this visual.

It seems it should not be too difficult to add this to miriad, though the list of dependencies looks ugly.

The script is in miriad4.tar.gz:miriad_cvs/src/scripts/mirds9

First dependency is something called bswap from the NEMO package. This appears to be needed for use under Linux.

The manpage says it's a byte-swapper. Sigh. This can be reimplemented as an addition to miriad.

Next is xpaset, xpaget, part of xpatools, also available on the DS9 page

The script creates a .wcs file for the viewer and pipes the image section into xpaset.

It seems a lot simpler to just add support for the miriad image type to DS9.

Unfortunately none of this helps with display of uv data - mirds9 doesn't display such data either.

Gave up on this, there are other ways forward - pgflag (ticket:93) and xmtv24 (ticket:95).
