Output FITS filenames fail when given a .fits.gz input

Description
If the input file has a .fits.gz extension, then the automatic naming of the files fails - it doesn't replace the extension but just appends the RECON or whatever extension after the .fits.gz.
Need to be a bit more flexible.

Appears to work fine. Updated the CHANGES file in [1373]. Closing.
