Review the state of the documentation
Agenda
- Miriad manual
- what's missing
- what could be improved
- what's the process for contributing
- ATUG manual
- should we be contributing?
- PGFLAG
- ready to release?
Minutes
- Miriad manual
- questions from users?
not that many, it seems - the most common questions seem to relate to things that have been taken out in the new edition of the AT User's Guide
- people familiar with miriad know where to look for answers
- Ray Norris' ATUG wiki entry (login required) has glaring problems. It's far from a cookbook, more of a set of reminder notes for blackbelt users.
- Jamie has been rewriting main manual (mostly making notes-to-self) as he goes through various data reductions. This is all in a private copy of his, none of it has been checked in yet.
- ATUG manual
- don't need to put much miriad material in here, point people to the cookbook.
- advise reading miriad manual before observations
- Changes to miriad
- divide+conquer:
- Emonts found it made no difference for his use-case (spectral line absorption)
- are there any situations it is really needed?
- bandpass calibration procedure - does it need to change?
- the need is probably frequency-dependent.
- at 5GHz it seems there is no need for repeat bandpass measurements
- at 8GHz, perhaps this is needed
- higher than this we have no information
- Emonts reported an improved rms from 1% to 0.1%, for the case of spectral line at phase centre, 5GHz.
- polarimetry
- possible issue at 7mm, Q & U signs flipped? (Can't find a ticket/fault for it)
