6 | Installation |
---|
7 | ============ |
---|
8 | |
---|
9 | scons has several targets. It is recommended to execute them sequentially. |
---|
10 | The normal install procedure is as follows |
---|
11 | .. code:: |
---|
12 | |
---|
13 | scons |
---|
14 | # Do this if you haven't got a data directory already |
---|
15 | export ASAPDATA=. |
---|
16 | ./bin/asap_update_data |
---|
17 | # |
---|
18 | scons install |
---|
19 | |
---|
20 | |
---|
21 | Obtaining the data directory |
---|
22 | ============================ |
---|
23 | |
---|
24 | The data repository can be obtained separately after installing ASAP. |
---|
25 | Before you run asap for the first time simply run:: |
---|
26 | |
---|
27 | asap_update_data |
---|
28 | |
---|
29 | This will install the data repository into the correct location. |
---|
30 | |
---|
31 | There are several ways to do this. |
---|
32 | a) If you already have the 'data' directory, copy it to the root directory and run the normal install procedure:: |
---|
33 | |
---|
34 | scons |
---|
35 | scons install |
---|
36 | |
---|
37 | b) You can obtain the data repository from the ftp site. |
---|
38 | Simply run:: |
---|
39 | |
---|
40 | export ASAPDATA=. |
---|
41 | ./bin/asap_update_data |
---|
42 | |
---|
43 | This will retrieve and unpack the data directory. |
---|
44 | After this run:: |
---|
45 | |
---|
46 | scons install |
---|
47 | |
---|
48 | Creating a binary distribution |
---|
49 | ============================== |
---|
50 | |
---|
51 | after building using 'scons', you can create a compressed tarball of the binaries. This is done via the target 'makedist='. The argument should be an obvious identifier for the system you want to support, e.g. 'sarge' or 'fc5-x86_64':: |
---|
52 | |
---|
53 | scons makedist=sarge |
---|
54 | |
---|
55 | This will create an archive in the subdirectory 'dist' named 'asap-X.Y.Z-sarge.tar.bz2', where X,Y,Z are the version numbers e.g 2.1.0. |
