11 | Installation
---|
12 | ============
---|
13 |
---|
14 | scons has several targets. It is recommended to execute them sequentially.
---|
15 | The normal install procedure is as follows
---|
16 | .. code::
---|
17 |
---|
18 | scons
---|
19 | # Do this if you haven't got a measures data directory already
---|
20 | export ASAPDATA=.
---|
21 | ./bin/asap_update_data
---|
22 | #
---|
23 | scons install
---|
24 |
---|
25 | Obtaining the data directory
---|
26 | ============================
---|
27 |
---|
28 | The data repository can be obtained separately after installing ASAP.
---|
29 | Before you run asap for the first time simply run::
---|
30 |
---|
31 | asap_update_data
---|
32 |
---|
33 | This will install the data repository into the correct location.
---|
34 |
---|
35 | There are several ways to do this.
---|
36 | a) If you already have the 'data' directory, copy it to the root directory and run the normal install procedure::
---|
37 |
---|
38 | scons
---|
39 | scons install
---|
40 |
---|
41 | b) You can obtain the data repository from the ftp site.
---|
42 | Simply run::
---|
43 |
---|
44 | export ASAPDATA=.
---|
45 | ./bin/asap_update_data
---|
46 |
---|
47 | This will retrieve and unpack the data directory.
---|
48 | After this run::
---|
49 |
---|
50 | scons install
---|
51 |
---|
52 | Creating a binary distribution
---|
53 | ==============================
---|
54 |
---|
55 | after building using 'scons', you can create a compressed tarball of the binaries. This is done via the target 'makedist='. The argument should be an obvious identifier for the system you want to support, e.g. 'sarge' or 'fc5-x86_64'::
---|
56 |
---|
57 | scons makedist=sarge
---|
58 |
---|
59 | This will create an archive in the subdirectory 'dist' named 'asap-X.Y.Z-sarge.tar.bz2', where X,Y,Z are the version numbers e.g 2.1.0.
